River Blyth to Monkey's Island taking in Mount Pleasant
Just to let you know, I wasn't happy with the car park at the Bank Top Hotel as it was very awkward to get out of. So I have found a much better car park at the Furness bank bridge. Have a look at the two pics attached.
Easy to get to,
- Drive past the big ASDA across the roundabout to Bebside.
- Over the railway lines and turn right at the turn off to the Bebside station (there is a little brick building on the right hand corner that used to be the bebside COOP)..
- Continue along that road, past the posh stables, down the bank.
- You will then come to the bridge over the River Blyth and see the car park in front of you on the other side of the bridge.
This is a much nicer start to Monkeys Island as we will get straight on the path alongside the river and shortly join the original route in my main website route.
There is a very interesting post on Blyth Hub, worth a read.

Fabulous day for walking, very sunny and bright with a slight breeze. Very friendly cows on the way with a farmer that showed us his pet cows!
