Summers here and ready to revisit an old favourite!
Seaton Sluice to St. Marys Island circular.
This stroll is 3.6 miles and should be OK for all the members of the Group. There are numerous rest points along the route with splendid views of the coastal Sill that runs along the north east coast.
The plan is to time the walk coinciding with low tide, (Thursday 27th August low tide is at 10 am, so the safe crossing on the causeway is 10.30 to 13.30, this will change our starting time and I will make it 11am for this stroll). This will also get the rocks and cliffs in view.
We start at Seaton Sluice across the bridge at the shelter on the green, opposite the Waterford Arms there is a shelter with seating and toilets, there are toilets as well at the St. Mary's carpark. There are plenty of car parking spaces around. The X7, 308 and 309 go to Seaton Sluice and can be boarded at Blyth Bus Station and South Beach caravan park.
We will walk up the coastal road to the Delaval Arms pub and turn left down to the car park. We will then follow the path along to the road leading to the Island taking in the bird hides on the way and catching some Summer birdlife for pics. Then, we will cross the causeway if so inclined, others can sit and have an ice cream and take in the sea airs.
We will then follow the coastal path back and come out near the Castaway café for tea and cake or the Waterford pub nearby for refreshments.
