The Ulgham Bucket

We can assemble here and start off on a road that leads to a road that has a ford about 200 meters along it and its here we turn right to cross into a couple of fields to a copse.

Car park in Ulgham Lane

There's a great history of the Bucket in the link above, click on it to see pictures and what it was about. To get to the car park at the start of the walk go up Ulgham Lane and the car park is on the left, next to a sports field and a kiddies play area.

The copse is nice and I spotted a rare Birch Polyphore fungus, looked a bit suspect for the frying pan though ugh!

My map of the route didn't follow Outdooractive rout as I wandered off a couple of times especially on the way back, loads of geese, swans and ducks in the lakes (part of the bucket scrapings). Again there are plenty of way markers to follow.

The Public right of way takes you across a farmers field that had just been planted that I thought strange but there was a track across with boot prints as well as deer tracks. Following the Outdooractive trail that I had on my phone made the way by following the yellow public access disks screwed onto posts and after an hour the Bucket was sighted with a farm in the distance. This was a bit splodgy as it was done in October after the great rains that flooded Blyth. Had walking boots on so no problem but suggest long pants as there was some Gorse that tickled my legs.

So I took about 2 hours but because of the lovely, cool sunny day was very nice. Be ideal in the spring/summer. Below is my Outdooractive route. This was about 5 miles rather than the 3.
