The Arts Appreciation Group looks at ALL aspects of the Arts from
painting to music and all points between. Guest speakers and outings are
arranged through the course of the year. The programme published below
will give you a flavour of what's on offer.

ARTS APPRECIATION GROUP VISIT TO CAPHEATON HALL 26TH JUNE 2025

As part of our programme for 2025 we visited Capheaton Hall in Northumberland the seat of the Swinburne family since 1260 and still very much a family home.

The latest custodian of this architectural gem is Willy Browne-Swinburne who provided an entertaining and engaging talk about the promotion of the arts by his ancestors and the reclamation of the house from its dilapidated state as an armaments storage depot ( during World War 20  by his father. The preservation and restoration, clearly a labour of love, continues to this day.
